MiniRoos teams [U8-U12s] fall under the club's community arm for young players who are starting out in Football and want to play the game for fun in an enjoyable team environment. There are no trials involved for MiniRoos. All levels of experience are welcome.
Wynnum Wolves FC's MiniRoos teams play in the South Metro Division of the Football Queensland competition.
Generally team formations happen during School Term 1 each year. The competition happens in two blocks across School Terms 2 and 3.
The season is underway with the last game scheduled for the 7th Sep 2024. There is no competition held over the mid-year school [June/July] holiday break.
One of the biggest growth sectors of our Club has been within our MiniRoos program with 26 community MiniRoos teams [U8-U12s] registered with the Club in 2023. There will be more than 35 community MiniRoos teams in 2024.
Should you decide to join, please register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Registration for 2024 involves MANDATORY 2 Steps:
Step 1 - CLUB (includes a Fee)
Register and pay the Club fees. Note that registering alone does not secure a spot. A 25% deposit is required to secure a spot which can be done at the time of registering. The remaining amount can be paid upfront or via a direct debit plan offered at the time of payment. Link: https://wolvesfc.majestri.com.au/wwfc-2024-season
Wynnum Wolves FC's U8-U12 registration fees for the 2024 Season are set at $400 for the season. [This amount does not include the registration fee for Football Queensland/ Football Australia: see below Step 2].
This registration fee includes a new playing jersey for the season. In addition in 2004 players will also receive a training shirt courtesy of a new club sponsor. Please refer to the Kits section below as a guide when selecting a shirt size during registration.
Step 2: SQUADI (Includes a Fee)
This is a new application introduced in 2023 by Football Queensland to consolidate a number of processes into one system. Through this application a player is expected to register and pay the governing body registration (GBR) fees.
GBR for U8-U11s is $64.50; GBR for U12s is $80.50.
When prompted for which competition select Wallaby for MiniRoos [not Kangaroo]. U8s do not have a Wallaby option so simply select the U8s.

The Club recommends Rebel Sport at Cannon Hill as a preferred supplier. Rebel partners our club in a Community Giveback program. If you sign up as a Rebel Member at any Rebel store [not only Cannon Hill] please consider nominating Wynnum Wolves FC as your club of choice for the Members Program. When you purchase and use your membership, valuable points are allocated to our Club which enables us to purchase new equipment such as balls, cones and other items for team training sessions. This offers invaluable support to our club.
All MiniRoos teams train once a week for 45-60 minutes depending on age level. No training over school holidays.
Like in 2023 the Wynnum Wolves FC's experienced technical coaching team assist with the group training sessions for all our MiniRoos players - 8s to 12s. This runs much like the format for our Wolf Cubs Skills group on Saturday mornings – but at a more elevated level.
The group training sessions concentrate on technical skill development such as First Touch, Striking the Ball, Running with the Ball and 1 v 1s at a level suitable to the players.
Team groups ran through a rotation of skill sessions together – so that they were still building team cohesion and friendships. Individual team parent coaches are also involved in leading these drills, all aimed at improving the skills and development of our young MiniRoos and our community level coaches.
At the moment, training nights are currently set (but subject to change) as follows, starting 19th Mar 2024:
Tuesday
U8 Boys, U8 girls and U9 girls 5:00-5:45 PM
U9 Boys 6:15-7:00 PM
Wednesday (note the time has changed)
U11 Boys, U12 Boys 5:15-6:15 PM
U11 Girls, U12 Girls 5:15-6:15 PM
Thursday (note the time has changed)
U10 Boys, U10 Girls 5:15-6:15 PM
During training the Club technical staff are continually looking to identify those young players who may be ready to step up to higher level programs at Wolves, such as our Pathways and FQ Academy teams. Our coaches are also in attendance to observe matches on Saturdays at Carmichael Park.
As in previous seasons, the Club requests the volunteer parent coaches and team managers take charge of their teams for their regular weekend matches both home and away. The volunteer parent coaches are requested to attend training to coach the team using the program outlined and are supervised by the MiniRoos Technical Director (at times) and by technical coaches.

A theme that will be reinforced throughout the season is showing RESPECT - for team mates, opposition players, referees, parents, club members ... in essence everyone. This may be an uncomfortable conversation for some, but one that will always be a priority to ensure a safe environment for all, especially our young ones. Please support our requirement for this to be treated as a priority throughout the season.
SUPPORT:
For any further queries please feel free to contact the MiniRoos Co-Ordinator via email miniroos@wynnumwolvesfc.com.au. Please note that the Club is run largely by volunteers, so emails may not receive an immediate response. However, we will always get back to you as soon as we possibly can.
