Wolf Cubs @ Wynnum Wolves FC 2024

Wynnum Wolves FC will continue its popular Wolf Cubs Kick-Off program for 3s to 7s in 2024.

Our Wolf Cubs program has proven a huge success over the past three seasons by providing supportive, fun-based football learning while also improving the readiness of our young players to flow into our club's Under 8 MiniRoos and Pathways programs.

Block 1 2024 will kick off in February with a 6-week program for both returning Wolf Cubs as well as those who are new to our club and keen to join in the fun of this foundational football program for our littlest Wolf Pack playing group.

To help get families ready for the 2024 Season we have put together the following important information about Wolf Cubs including key dates, session days and times, and a document walking you through how to register with the club.

Please feel free to share this email with anyone you know who may be interested in returning to our club this season or joining us as a new player. Due to the ongoing success of the Wolf Cubs Kick-Off program over the past three seasons we are expecting spots to once again fill quickly.

Overview

The 2024 season of Wolf Cubs will see few subtle changes made to the program with all sessions this season to run for 45 minutes for all ages - 3s through to 7s. This will ensure all sessions are short and sharp - to compliment the optimum learning and attention span of our youngsters. But rest assured, all sessions will be packed full of fun and football-focused learning within this age-appropriate timeframe. Games and skills will all feature as part of the in-house program which is run by experienced members of our technical team who guide a dedicated and energetic group of young coaches each Saturday morning.

All groups are organised so our coaches can get to know the young players in their charge each week, and players will likewise be able to get to know the coach leading their particular "team". Throughout each session there will be ongoing assessment of individual player progress which may result in players being moved into more appropriate groups in line with their development level as they progress.  As with all junior players it is important to enable players to progress at their own pace.

Aimed at the little ones who are just starting out on their football journeys, Wolf Cubs is always focused on the youngsters having as much fun as possible with the ball at their feet. New skills are taught each week and built upon over subsequent sessions during each block.

For the 3s and 4s the sessions are play-based with the focus firmly on maximum enjoyment. Youngsters will begin to learn how to kick, how to pass, how to play within a designated area and of course - the objective of the game - how to get the ball at their feet into the net!

Players in the 5s, 6s and 7s groups will be introduced to more focused age-appropriate technical training as they improve their confidence, co-ordination and basic skills. In this way our young Wolf Cubs are well-prepared and ready to hit the ground running when they progress to one of our Wynnum Wolves FC MiniRoos teams which start at 8 years of age.

Wolf Cubs is always delivered in Term Blocks at Wynnum Wolves FC as this offers families the flexibility to join in when it suits their needs and schedules during the year. It is not necessary to commit for an entire year if circumstance don't allow.

Best of all - for the Mums and Dads - Wolf Cubs is always a WIN-WIN! With our coaches taking the lead at all sessions, parents can sit back and enjoy a coffee and some breakfast on the side lines at Carmichael Park while watching the kids enjoy their session.

Numbers will be capped for all sessions so be quick to secure your spot for Blocks 1 & 2 in 2024! Block 2 dates will be released soon!

Uniforms

All our Wolf Cubs players have the option to purchase a special Wolf Cubs jersey to wear to their Saturday morning training sessions. These can be purchased from the club at a cost of $45. It is not compulsory to purchase a jersey for our Wolf Cubs program. In addition, players are encourage to wear attire that is comfortable for sport such as shorts and sports shoes. It’s very important to have a hat and sunscreen on, and a good-sized bottle of water to keep hydrated during the session. Please ensure you label all items to minimise the chance of losing any of your possessions.

Soccer boots are not essential, but your child is more than welcome to wear them if you have them. Shin pads are not compulsory in this age group but can certainly be useful when enthusiastic feet are flying at the ball. It’s also good to get young players used to wearing them, so we do recommend that you consider a pair.

Some of our Wolf Cubs enjoy getting into a full Wolves' kit. Club shorts, socks and shin pads can be purchased from the club’s Merchandise Shop on Saturday mornings, along with other club merchandise such as jackets, hats, polos, bags and water bottles. We have items from suit all sizes from the little kids to adults.

The club also recommends Rebel Sport at Cannon Hill as a preferred supplier. Rebel Sport partners our club in a Community Giveback program. If you sign up as a Rebel Member at any Rebel store [not only Cannon Hill] please consider nominating Wynnum Wolves Football Club as your club of choice for their Members' Rewards Program. Then, when you purchase any item and record your membership # at the checkout, valuable points are allocated to our club which enables us to purchase new equipment such as balls, cones and other items to support our training sessions and programs. This offers invaluable support to our club.
